Taco Cabana's Updated Statement
Taco Cabana's spokesperson releases this statement:
At Taco Cabana it is our policy and a core value to treat all guests with respect and fairness. We understand that the claims made in the video circulating on social media are upsetting, and we take them very seriously. We met with the guest who made the video and community leaders who were upset, and have cleared up what we agree was a timing and communication issue, for which our CEO has personally apologized. There was a misunderstanding that the restaurant was closing when the guests arrived, and that while they were welcome to wait in the empty dining room while the food was prepared, the food would be packed to go. Our team was simply following standard operating procedure for when guests place orders during closing. The men were not refused dine-in service for any other reason than the restaurant was closed, and we've all reached an understanding on that important point. We are happy to have had a positive conversation, cleared the air and reaffirmed that at Taco Cabana, we strive to treat all guests fairly.
