Onlookers and police officers came to the rescue of a motorcyclist who was trapped beneath a car after the vehicle ran over a motorcycle carrying two people in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on Tuesday.
A relative told local media that Brazilian Federal Highway Police trapped Genivaldo de Jesus Santos in their SUV with a tear gas bomb during "a torture session."
District Attorney Pro Tempore Samir Patel said the officers' use of force was in line with department policy.
The decision that would allow officers to be sued if they interfere with bystanders trying to record them.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $20 million AUD, according to officials.
Among those indicted are two officers charged earlier this year for allegedly assaulting people at the 2020 protests.
Kenneth Pilon, 61, allegedly left nooses with handwritten notes attached in Michigan stores and parking lots.
There are no reported fatalities as of Saturday afternoon.
An arbitrator ruled the two didn't violate the department's use-of-force guidelines when they pushed a 75-year-old protester to the ground. It was caught on video that went viral.
"Hopefully, what police departments will take from this is a jury of regular citizens takes these rights very seriously," one lawyer said after the verdict.
