The forecast for the aurora borealis has changed.
Geomagnetic activity could make the aurora visible in parts of Michigan, Maine, New York, Wisconsin and Washington state on Wednesday. The lights may also be seen in Alaska and parts of Canada.
The aurora borealis, or northern lights, were distinctly visible, appearing in skies over a vast section of the country.
"I always see strange things in the sky but this was insane," one woman who saw the mysterious spiral said.
"I could see the waves dancing in green all over the sky," he said of his flight during the G4 geomagnetic storm.
Passengers on an airplane were treated to a stunning view of the northern lights as a glimmering green and pink aurora lit up the night sky above New York.
Some parts of the U.S. also have a chance at seeing the Northern Lights on Monday night.
The sun appeared to be "smiling" down on Earth ahead of Halloween weekend. But what does it mean?
The storm could hit as soon as Thursday, NOAA said.
