A retired police officer in the nation's capital has been convicted of lying to authorities about leaking confidential information to the leader of the Proud Boys extremist group.
Stone had sought to delay his sentencing until September 3, saying on Facebook on Sunday that he is seeking "to delay the death sentence ordering me to a COVID-19 infested prison."
Stone's attorneys filed a notice of appeal with the federal district court in Washington.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson cited a "very public ongoing effort to disrupt the prosecutors and jurors themselves."
U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson said the request from Stone's lawyers was merely an attempt to publicly clam she was biased against him.
In her closing remarks, Jackson said "the jurors who served with integrity under difficult circumstances cared," while Stone's lawyers are arguing at least one juror was biased.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson said she will still hand down Stone's sentence on Thursday, but indicated she plans to defer the execution of the sentence.
