At the corner of 16th Street and Mission, a well-known hub for illicit activity, San Francisco police officers moved in late Wednesday night, conducting a raid aimed at clearing out illegal vending and drug sales. But within hours, the familiar scenes returned. Lauren Toms reports.
The raids on Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao's home and at properties connected to a politically influential family have shaken the city's political scene to its core.
At UCLA on Wednesday, an encampment of pro-Palestinian demonstrators was declared an "unlawful assembly" and its occupants were told to disperse. After a roughly nine-hour standoff, police entered campus and forcefully took down the tents. CBS News national correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti reports.
