Video Shows Missing 49ers Fan Leaving Levi's Stadium
SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- Stadium security camera video was released Thursday of a Spokane man who has been missing ever since Monday night's San Francisco 49ers-New York Giants game.
In the video 32-year-old Ian Powers can be seen dressed in a 49ers jersey, 49ers hat and blue jeans, walking in down an exit at Levi's Stadium and looking down at a cell phone.
"In looking at the video it's apparent that he is able to walk somewhat normally. He's not staggering or falling," said Santa Clara Police Capt. Wahid Kazem.
Police say the video helps answer some questions, such as his sobriety, but not much else. "Honestly, at this point we are still at that middle ground where we don't have a clear direction as to what happened to Mr. Powers," said Kazem.
Powers was reported missing Tuesday morning after last speaking to his family around 10 p.m. Monday. According to police, Powers was traveling from Spokane, Wash. to Los Angeles with a scheduled stop in Antioch to visit family.
His girlfriend told investigators that Powers left his seat to use the bathroom at the game and never came back. His car was found in a nearby parking lot but he has not been found.
Photos and videos posted to social media show Powers was in good spirits while attending Monday night's game with his family. His girlfriend, Chelsea Robbins, shared Thursday a still frame grab of a brief Facetime she had with Powers after he left the stadium.
"We would talk for a minute and try and find each other. Then I got a text from him, it just say hey baby and that was it, that was the last time I heard from him," said Robbins.
Thursday, about a dozen volunteers and family members who came down from Washington state searched the parking lots around Levi's Stadium for any sign of him. So far the search has come up empty.
"I just hope he comes home safe, we're here for him," said cousin Alexandria Edington. "I just want him home."
