The Simpsons - 'Marge Simpson In Screaming Yellow Honkers'

Marge discovers the pleasures of driving a sport utility vehicle… until aggressive highway habits cost her.

Teachers stage a faculty talent show at the elementary school. Audience members, however, are less than enthused with the horrific performances. When intermission arrives, the audience rushes for the exit and makes a mad dash for their cars. Marge takes the wheel of the station wagon as the rest of the family piles inside. A traffic jam ensues and Marge gets stuck in traffic. Krusty bypasses the mess by driving his Canyonero sports utility vehicle over a wall. Impressed by the display of raw SUV power, Homer purchases his own Canyonero… only to discover that the model is especially designed for women. Afraid of being ridiculed, Homer swaps cars with Marge. Slowly, Marge falls in love with the vehicle, and uses its four wheel drive for some off-road short cuts.

Eventually, Marge's fondness for the SUV affects her family, as she spends more and more time behind the wheel and less at home. One day, she finds herself stuck behind a slow-moving funeral procession. She eventually maneuvers the vehicle and speeds past the hearse, but she is pulled over by Chief Wiggum. Wiggum tells Marge that she suffers from "road rage" and assigns her traffic school. Marge attends the class, which includes the screening of a traffic safety film featuring a tough female highway patrol officer named Sergeant Crew, as well as a live appearance by Curtis E. Bear, the Courtesy Bear. Attendees are encouraged to vent their rage by assaulting the officer in the cheap bear costume. Afterward, attendees find themselves in another traffic jam in the police station parking lot. Marge loses her cool—and then her license—when Chief Wiggum observes her reckless behavior behind the wheel.

A depressed Marge stays behind when the rest of the family leaves for an outing at the Springfield zoo. Disappointed by the lethargic animals, Homer uses Bart's slingshot to "wake them up." Unfortunately, Homer's action causes a heard of rhinos to stampede through the park. Homer, Bart and Lisa race for the parking lot, where they become trapped atop the family station wagon. Desperate, Wiggum turns to Marge and the SUV for help. At first, Marge declines to help. But when she realizes her family is in danger, Marge springs to action. She races the SUV to the zoo parking lot and tells everyone to climb in. But during the excitement, Homer lands on the ground. A rhino dips its horn and scoops Homer up by the belt. Eventually the belt snaps, and Homer is hurled into a portable toilet. The rhino charges the Porta-John, piercing it repeatedly with its horn. Thinking quickly, Marge makes a sharp turn, causing the SUV to overturn and burst into flames. The rhino sees the fire and, leaving Homer behind, begins to stamp it out. Having saved her family, Marge explains that the inspiration for her plan came from watching Stone Philips on Dateline.
