Teen Fatally Shot at Richmond Bus Stop

RICHMOND, Calif. (KCBS)_ Police in Richmond are investigating the fatal shooting of a teenager this morning. Sgt. Bisa French tells KCBS it happened around 10:30 a.m. at West McDonald and Curry.

She says the boy was waiting for his mother to pick him up at a bus stop when two males approached him. They then shot him and ran away.

"There was a 16-year-old male waiting at a bus stop for his mother to pick him up," said French. "Two black males approached him, one began to shoot at him. He was struck, and died on the scene from his injuries."

French says they are interviewing witnesses but don't yet have a good description of the suspects, or a motive for the shooting.

Megan Timberlake, who lives across the street from the crime scene, says she heard gunshots and saw the gunman fleeing the scene.

"He was between 25 and 30, in jeans and a black hoodie, and I didn't see his face enough to know him if I see him," says Timberlake.

AC Transit says one of the agencies busses was held at the scene because the driver was a witness.

This is the 14th homicide in Richmond this year.  Last year at this time there had been 35.
