Suspects in Palo Alto restaurant burglaries worked for cleaning company
Palo Alto police said the suspects in several restaurant burglaries worked for a cleaning company that did work for the targeted businesses.
The suspects were arrested Feb. 6 and identified by police as 29-year-old Marcos David Umana Romero, 31-year-old Jose Roberto Rodriguez, and 27-year-old Armando Aguilar Sevillas. They are all San Francisco residents.
Police first began investigating on Dec. 23 after getting a call around 9:30 a.m. about an overnight burglary at Local Union 271 restaurant. Investigators learned multiple suspects entered the business through a rear door around 4 a.m. and took a safe containing about $5,000.
The second burglary happened Dec. 26 at Nola Restaurant, and the third burglary was on Jan. 28 at Ettan Restaurant. Both were burglarized in the same manner.
Police said the suspects entered overnight through a rear door and took the safe. At Nola, police said the suspects took about $4,000, and they took about $7,000 from Ettan.
Palo Alto police said the suspects were subcontractors for a company that provided overnight cleaning services to the three restaurants.
They were booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of three counts of commercial burglary and three counts of conspiracy.
Investigators are looking into whether other people were involved in the burglaries and if the suspects are connected to the other burglaries.
