Small Plane Flying From Half Moon Bay Goes Missing

HALF MOON BAY (CBS 5) -- A single engine plane that took off from Half Moon Bay early Monday morning had not arrived at its destination in Arizona Monday night, an aviation official said.

According to Ian Gregor of the FAA, a single engine Aeropro CZ A240 departed from Half Moon Bay Airport around 5:50 a.m. bound for Marana Regional Airport in Tucson, Ariz. The pilot intended to stop for fuel in the Southern California town of Apple Valley, according to the pilot's wife.

Gregor said the aircraft was reported overdue by the pilot's wife when the plane failed to show up on schedule. Information about the pilot was not immediately available.

Airport officials in Half Moon Bay and Marana did not find the aircraft during searches at both facilities, Gregor said.

Gregor did not know if a search for the plane was underway Monday night. Searches for missing aircraft are arranged by the US Air Force Rescue Coordination Center in Virginia.

The aircraft's tail number is N72AH. A search of FAA records finds the plane was manufactured in 2011 and is registered to Andrew Hayden of Punta Gorda, Florida.
