SFPD Officer Accused Of Stealing Registration Sticker
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- A San Francisco police officer has been charged with stealing a car registration sticker from a driver he pulled over and then affixing the tag to his own car.
District Attorney George Gascon said Officer Gregory Hui was arrested Wednesday on felony charges of falsifying motor vehicle documents.
Prosecutors allege the 45-year-old patrol officer pulled over a car with a defective brake light a year ago. During the stop, he allegedly admonished the driver for having an improper sticker.
Hui then allegedly took the sticker and put it on a car he co-owned that had expired tags.
Gascon says Hui has not yet been arraigned on the charges, which include misdemeanor embezzlement. His bail was set at $18,000.
