SF Tourist Area Gets Some TLC
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) Volunteers, business owners and San Francisco city employees started a huge street cleaning project on Tuesday at one of the city's major tourist spots.
The Department of Public Works used volunteers, youth organizations, business groups and its own employees in an effort to spruce up Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39.
DPW Director Ed Reiskin said this is all part of a citywide effort to keep the city clean.

"We've been paving the streets that people use the most and now we're also focusing on some of these areas that get a lot of people through and that require a little extra maintenance to make sure that they stay looking good," said Reiskin.
About 100 people are signed up for a massive cleanup of the area on Saturday that would cover 200 blocks.
