San Francisco is the sole U.S. candidate city being considered to host the 34th America's Cup.

San Francisco is home to the Golden Gate Yacht Club, whose BMW Oracle Racing team won the 33rd America's Cup in Valencia, Spain, last February. Since the team's victory, San Francisco has been preparing a compelling proposal to hold the race, utilizing assets along the southern waterfront, and seeking early support from key local stakeholders.

Expressions of interest from four European countries are also being studied.

A final decision on the venue and the dates of the next race, scheduled for 2013 or 2014, will be made by the end of the year.
