2 arrested in San Jose during investigation into suspected commercial brothels

Police in San Jose say they've arrested two people after finding evidence that indicated commercial brothel operations at several locations in the city.

Beginning on March 28, police said a series of search warrants were served targeting suspect commercial brothels in San Jose.

The locations included commercial properties on the 1000 block of Willow Street, 1000 block of Tully Road and 200 block of N. Jackson Avenue. Another search warrant was served at a home on the 1300 block of Bagely Way.

During the operation, police said they arrested Bili Ruan, 50, at the Willow Street location.

Police said they identified Tien Tran, 46, as the primary operator of the brothels but did not locate Tran when the search warrants were executed.

After obtaining an arrest warrant, Tran was arrested on April 2 and booked into jail for pimping, police said.

The police department added that they found several pieces of evidence that indicated commercial brothel options at several locations. They also said they found about $25,000, multiple high-end designer purses and jewelry that's estimated to be more than $200,000.

Police said three suspected commercial sex workers were contacted during the operations. They said the survivors were provided support and resources.

The investigation was a collaborative effort that included the Santa Clara County LEIHT Task Force, the U.S. Department of State in San Francisco, and the San Jose Police Department's MERGE, METRO, VCET and DSU units.
