SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Whether it's reclaiming traffic lanes for buses only, or replacing parking spaces with parklets, the city of San Francisco is becoming less car-friendly, and that might be helping car-sharing services thrive.

At a garage at Polk and Bush Streets, a handful of car-share services, including Zip Car, Enterprise Car Share, and Scoot park their rentals.

"We ran out of space for everyone to have their own car in the city a while ago," Michael Keating, founder of Scoot, an electric moped fleet that recently marked its millionth mile.

"I'm actually a Zip Car member myself. I use Zip Car when I need to leave the city, or if I need to pick up a bunch of things at the store," Keating said.

The city is even considering extending parking meter enforcement into the nighttime hours in some neighborhoods, making it even tougher to keep a car in the city.
