3 Armed Robbers Duct-Tape Owner Then Ransack Point Reyes Jewelry Shop

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Sheriff's deputies are looking for three men suspected of robbing a Point Reyes Station jewelry store Saturday.

At 11:16 a.m., deputies responded to a robbery at Point Reyes Jeweler, located at 11101 State Route 1, according to sheriff's officials.

When deputies arrived, they spoke with the store's owner, who said at least one of the suspects was armed, sheriff's officials said.

The first man entered the store and asked to look at diamonds. Several minutes later, two additional men entered the store, sheriff's officials said.

One of the suspects pointed a black semi-automatic handgun at the victim and ordered him to the back room, according to sheriff's officials.

There, the suspects tied the victim's hand and feet with duct tape. They then proceeded to take the victim's cellphone, jewelry and several display cases, as well as the store's safe, deputies said.

After 20 to 30 minutes, the victim was able to get the attention of a customer who walked into the store and the customer freed the victim, sheriff's officials said.

Deputies recovered evidence linked to the robbery in a trash can at the Shell gas station, located at 834 Irwin St. in San Rafael, according to sheriff's officials.

Deputies described the three suspects as white men in their 20s, between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 9 inches tall.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Marin County Sheriff's Office at (415) 479-2311.
