Prince's Band 'The Revolution' To Reunite For Concert Series
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WCCO) — Prince's most-popular backing band is reassembling in the wake of his shocking death. Members of the "Purple Rain" era of Prince and The Revolution plan to play a series of shows in the near future.
The announcement was made Tuesday in a video on the Facebook page of BrownMark, Prince's former bassist. The video begins with five people claiming to be members of The Revolution's heyday: Mark "BrownMark" Brown, Robert "Bobby Z." Rivkin, Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman and Matt "Doctor" Fink.
The Revolution was formed in 1983 after guitarist Dez Dickerson quit Prince's band during a religious awakening. The band supported Prince on the albums "Purple Rain," "Around The World In A Day" and "Parade," as well as the three tours to support the albums.
No word yet as to which venues and cities 'The Revolution' will visit.
