Pedestrian Hit, Killed On 101 In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) - A pedestrian was struck and killed on U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A pedestrian on the northbound section of the highway near the Old Bayshore Highway offramp was first reported at 7:18 p.m.

He may have been trying to cross the highway when he was struck by a car, according to the CHP.

Initial reports indicated the victim may have been an elderly man, but have not been confirmed.

Only one lane of the highway is open and closures are expected to remain in effect for several hours.
