Narsai David Wine Review: Three Delicious Wines For The Holidays

wine glass, alcohol

HEALDSBURG (KCBS) - These 3 wines from the Alexander Valley, the Russian River Valley and Contra Costa County are a perfect complement to a fine holiday meal.

KCBS Food And Wine Editor Narsai David:

The 2010 Stuhlmuller Vineyards Chardonnay has bright, citrusy aromas very much like citrus blossoms that lead to a firm, crisp wine that's beautifully balanced on the palate. It has a crisp finish that makes it especially attractive to serve with seafood dishes or rich chicken dishes. This wine leaves the mouth watering and ready for another sip. Priced at $24.

Now we move from the Alexander Valley next door to the Russian River Valley where the 2010 Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc was grown. This wine is herbal and floral, like the smell of wildflowers in an open field in springtime.

Those herbal notes follow right onto the palate with flavors of ripe melons. Serve this with fresh crab that's now in season. I love the long, lingering flavors. Priced at $30.

Finally, from the Cline Ancient Vines Mourvèdre in Contra Costa County we have a Rhone variety that you rarely find from 80-year-old vines in California.

Appealing, fresh aromas of a berry bramble mix just enough fruit with the woodsy smell of the bramble to create a medium white balance on the palate that has a fine acid balance. Very nicely priced at $15.99
