Mota Reportedly Rejoining Giants Following Drug Suspension
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS Sports) - Giants pitcher Guillermo Mota is heading to Houston, according to ESPN.com's Enrique Rojas.
The 38-year-old reliever sent Rojas a text telling him he was on a flight headed for Houston to rejoin the Giants. Mota is eligible to return from his suspension Tuesday. Mota has only thrown 10 2/3 innings with the Giants this season. He was suspended in May for testing positive for a banned substance. Because it was his second violation, Mota was suspended for 100 games.
The move comes weeks after Major League Baseball suspended Giants outfielder and All-Star game MVP Melky Cabrera received a 50 game ban for PEDs.
Mota is scheduled to become a free agent after the season.
