Man Who Met Khaki-Purchasing Jim Harbaugh Describes Walmart Encounter

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The man who documented Jim Harbaugh's affinity for pleated khakis said his chance encounter with the San Francisco 49ers head coach inside an Indianapolis Walmart was a day he won't soon forget.

Austin Jeffers has seen his photos with Harbaugh go viral and his Twitter account blow up following the interview Harbaugh's wife Sarah gave to CBS San Francisco sister station 99.7 [NOW!], describing how she could not stand her husband's use of the pleated khakis.

Jeffers said he was in the store in February 2013 in the days after the 49ers lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl. "I go to the men's area towards the underwear. I see someone that I think looks a lot like Jim Harbaugh ...  My heart starts beating fast because Indianapolis loves Jim Harbaugh."

Harbaugh was in town for the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium. Following a number of seasons playing for the Chicago Bears, Harbaugh was a fan favorite as a quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts from 1994-1997 and even had the Colts one dropped pass away from winning the AFC Championship.

Jeffers continued, "I'm really excited to see Jim Harbaugh in Walmart of all places ... I say 'are you Jim Harbaugh?' He replies 'yes.'  I say "wow I can't believe it, I'm a fan.  I remember your Colt days.' He says he appreciates that. "

Jeffers said he asked for a picture and Harbaugh quickly obliged. After the older gentleman Harbaugh was with took a photo, Jeffers saw it was not the best quality so he asked Harbaugh for another. "He says, 'no problem'" said Jeffers. "I said 'have a good night.'  He says, 'you, too.'"

"I say to this random Walmart employee 'I just met him Harbaugh!"  The man hardly shares my excitement.  Oh well it was great, I facebooked the photos from the parking lot of Wal-Mart after my shopping before I pulled away to go home.  It was a great day.  I said meeting him made my week.  Well, it jump-started my 2014."
