Two Incidents Cause Delays on BART
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) Two disruptions caused major problems for BART commuters on Wednesday afternoon.
Police had to shut down power on BART between the Civic Center and 16th Street/Mission stations around 1:40 p.m. as they pursued a wanted parolee on the tracks and in and around the station.
Officers arrested the suspect a short time later and power and regular service were restored around 2:20.

The second incident was triggered about ten minutes later, when a man apparently jumped onto the tracks at the Embarcadero station.
"The train operator reported seeing this person jump onto the trackway and stand up and wait for the train to hit him," said BART spokesman Linton Johnson.
Johnson said the train operator honked the horn and slowed down. The man was trapped under the second car and survived, although a San Francisco fire official said he was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
The Embarcadero station was temporarily closed while crews freed the man from the tracks and completed their investigation.
Service was halted from San Francisco to the East Bay for about an hour following the incident.
