Man Faces Charges In Fake Sex Ad Targeting Woman
PALO ALTO (CBS/AP) --Palo Alto police have recommended prosecutors charge a 27-year-old man who allegedly posted a fake online ad for "casual encounters" with a woman he knew.
Police said the Illinois man was trying to get back at the woman, whom he blamed for ending his relationship with his girlfriend.
Sgt. Kara Salazar said the woman reported to police on Friday that she received dozens of sexually graphic text messages and phone calls after the ad went up. It apparently remained online for several hours and included pictures of her.
Police declined to release the man's name pending possible charges by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office. They have recommended prosecutors file two counts of misdemeanor false impersonation against him.
