Man dies, passenger seriously injured in fiery crash in Healdsburg

A driver died early Sunday morning in a crash in Healdsburg, the California Highway Patrol said. 

Around 4:12 a.m., officers responded to a crash on Highway 101, north of Dry Creek Road.

The CHP said the driver was traveling at high speeds on northbound Highway 101 when he lost control. The car veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and caught fire. 

The driver died at the scene. A woman in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital with major injuries that were not life-threatening.
