Jan Wahl Movie Review: 'Battle: Los Angeles'

(KCBS) - KCBS Entertainment Editor Jan Wahl reviews the action thriller starring Aaron Eckhart.

BATTLE: LOS ANGELES (PG-13)

Sometimes a good actor can anchor even the silliest of science fiction action flicks, and the result is a somewhat believable and often thrilling ride for the audience. Aaron Eckhart stars as a Marine staff sergeant, a tough yet emotionally scarred guy who is determined to do his job and keep calm in an impossible situation. Director Jonathan Liebesman wisely set this story from the Earth's point of view, so we become involved in a serious way with the tale of Aliens determined to colonize our planet. Los Angeles, with its flat vistas and spread-out cities, is perfect for this frightening battle. Tense, scary, a true movie escape. Three hats.
