SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The backlash over Donald Trump's latest comments about Fox news anchor Megyn Kelly got him disinvited to the Red State Gathering, a two-day event with GOP presidential candidates in Georgia.
Kelly was one of the moderators at the Republican debate last Thursday and Trump was unhappy after she grilled him about his treatment of women.
"You've called women you don't like 'fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,'" asked Kelly. Trump replied, "only Rosie O'Donnell," but Kelly refused to back down, citing other misogynistic quotes from the GOP candidate. She asked if he was "part of the war on women."
Trump replied, "I don't frankly have time for total political correctness. And to be honest with you, this country doesn't have time either."
Friday, in a CNN interview he lashed out at Kelly, calling her questions "vicious" and "unfair."
"I don't have a lot of respect for Megyn Kelly, she's a lightweight," said Trump. "She gets out and starts asking me all sorts of ridiculous questions and you could see there was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever."
Trump later said he was talking about Kelly's nose. As being uninvited to the GOP gathering, he later tweeted, "Political correctness is killing our country."
Erick Erickson, the organizer of the Red State Gathering said Trump had crossed a line of decency; several GOP rivals echoed the sentiment.
Trump's seat at the Red State Gathering was given to Kelly.
