Giants' Prospect Darren Ford Enters Court-Ordered Program

By David Andriesen, Special to CBS Sports

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS Sports) -- San Francisco Giants prospect Darren Ford, who appeared in seven games at the major-league level in September, was accepted into a pre-trial diversion program Wednesday related to allegations that he stole from an employer.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported that Ford also must pay restitution of $2,297.93 to an auto dealership.

Ford turned himself in to authorities in July after police in Vineland, New Jersey, charged him with four felonies alleging that he stole cash and checks from the dealership and filed a false police report that he was robbed at gunpoint in November of 2009.

Ford, 25, spent most of the 2010 season at Double-A Richmond, batting .251.
