Friday Night Violence In Oakland Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Hurt

OAKLAND (BCN) -- A man who was fatally shot in Oakland on Friday evening has been identified as Brian Villaflor, a police spokeswoman said Saturday.

Villaflor, 33, was found fatally shot at about 6:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of East 19th Street, Oakland police Officer Holly Joshi said.

Police are investigating whether the shooting is connected to a marijuana grow operation that was found afterward at his nearby home, Joshi said.

Police were not yet releasing how many plants were found in the home.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and no suspect information was immediately available, police said.

The shooting was the first of three that were reported in Oakland on Friday night.

The second shooting was reported around 7:20 p.m. in the 700 block of West Grand Avenue. A man was shot and taken to a hospital in stable condition, police said.

The third shooting, reported at about 10:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Foothill Boulevard, sent two more men to a hospital in stable condition, according to police.

No arrests have been made in connection with either of the other two shootings. The three shootings are believed to be unrelated, police said.
