Fairfield Vice Principal Suspected Of Child Molestation
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Sacramento County sheriff's investigators are seeking any other potential victims who might have been molested by a Fairfield elementary school administrator.
Christopher Vargas, 38, an assistant principal at Cleo Gordon Elementary School, was arrested March 25 on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child under age 14, Sacramento County sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.
Vargas, of Sacramento, is being held in Sacramento County Jail on $500,000 bail. He is charged with two lewd acts involving a family member in Sacramento, Ramos said.
Detectives, Ramos said, are concerned there may be additional victims.
"He was in direct contact with children on a daily basis, and his name might ring a bell," Ramos said.
However, there is no evidence so far to suggest there may be other victims, Ramos said.
Anyone with information about inappropriate contact with Vargas is asked to call Sacramento County sheriff's Detective John Linke at (916) 874-5191.
