Driver Sought In Palo Alto Hit-And-Run Of Man In Wheelchair
PALO ALTO (KCBS) — Palo Alto police were asking for the public's help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who struck a man in a wheelchair last weekend.
The accident happened before dawn last Saturday morning on University Avenue near Lincoln Avenue.
"The pedestrian was utilizing a wheelchair, travelling westbound as well was the vehicle when he was struck from behind, said Officer Sean Downey with the Palo Alto Police Department.
Downey said there's little question that this was a hit-and-run, thanks to an eye-witness who saw the vehicle drive away from the scene and went to go help the victim. According to Downey the witness claimed they then saw the vehicle pass by a second time.
The man in the wheelchair suffered non-life threatening injuries. Downey said they are now asking the public's help in finding the suspect vehicle.

He described it as a white Toyota Yaris between the model years 2007 and 2011 with right, front passenger damage,
Had the driver stopped, Downey said he may have been facing only a citation, but a hit-and-run is an automatic felony.
