De La Salle Upsets Castro Valley To Win NorCal Championship
SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- Travis Pacos had 19 points as De La Salle of Concord came from behind to upset Castro Valley, 49-43, to win the boys' Division I NorCal championship Saturday.
Amadi Udenyi had 11 points, six rebounds and five assists for De La Salle (27-5) at Power Balance Pavilion, while Juan Anderson led Castro Valley (30-2) with 20 points and Chris Read added 11.
Castro Valley controlled the game during most of the first three quarters, but couldn't pull away. The Trojans led by eight, 29-21, late in the third, but De La Salle ran off 18 straight points and Castro never got closer than six.
De La Salle won its fifth NorCal title and will face Mater Dei of Santa Ana Saturday in the Division I state title game.
