Daily Madden: Revis May Not Be Best Fit For 49ers

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - A 'high-ranking' team source said the San Francisco 49ers have very little interest in New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis, '.001 on a scale of 1-10' to be exact. "That usually means there's some interest," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.

"When you go that deep to say how little interest you have, that means you have interest." But Madden said he's not sure Revis is a good fit for the 49ers.

"It's a dilemma," he said. "Here's a guy that gets paid a lot of money (and) he's coming off knee surgery. That's on the one hand. Then on the other hand, he's probably the best corner in football... Can you afford that much money for a corner that you're not sure (is fully recovered)?"

There's also the issue of team chemistry, Madden said. "The 49ers have a successful defense, and I think rather than going out and getting someone that they have to fit their defense towards, I think they're better to get someone that fits into their defense."

"The 49ers have done such a great job under Jim Harbaugh with the team concept. I think when you dip into someone like Revis --- and it's not all about him either, it's just about the situation -- you kind of go away from team and group and us to more of an individual type thing."
