Concord Shooting Victim Arrested For Drug Possession

CONCORD (BCN) - A man was shot Tuesday night and then arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine for sale, Concord police Lt. David Hughes said Wednesday.

Police received a report of a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 1841 Laguna St. at 10:43 p.m.

When officers arrived, they didn't find any victims. While they were searching the area, however, they received a call from a resident who said his roommate had been shot, Hughes said.

Officers contacted the victim, a 25-year-old Concord resident, and found that he had been shot once in the buttocks.

He was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released, Hughes said.

The victim told investigators that he had arrived home at the apartment complex and was in the parking lot when four to six males approached him.

When he turned to run, they shot him, Hughes said.

The group then left in a dark-colored, four-door Cadillac.

During a search of the victim's apartment, officers allegedly found methamphetamine packaged for sale and arrested the victim, Hughes said.

Investigators were looking into the possibility that the shooting could have been related to the alleged drug activity.

Police are also investigating a report of shots fired earlier Tuesday on Amador Avenue between Clayton Road and Marina Avenue, Hughes said.

At 3:48 p.m., police received several calls reporting gunshots in the area.

Witnesses told police they had heard two gunshots and then saw a man with a gun run to a silver, 1999 four-door Acura and get in the passenger seat and drive away.

Officers found evidence confirming that shots were fired, but didn't find any victims, Hughes said.

They notified local hospitals but have not received any reports of gunshot victims showing up for treatment, Hughes said.
