CHP Rescues Woman Trapped In Partially Submerged Truck
BLOOMFIELD (CBS-SF) -- Rescue workers pulled a woman from a partially submerged truck on a rural Sonoma County road Wednesday after she was able to keep her head above water for more than an hour while she was trapped, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said the accident took place on Freestone-Valley Ford Road east of state Highway 1 near Bloomfield at around 12:40 p.m.
The pickup truck with two occupants inside flipped over on the wet roadway and landed in standing water. The driver was able to exit the vehicle on their own but not until officers corralled a pit bull that was running loose at the crash scene, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The female passenger, however, was trapped inside the partially submerged cab. She was eventually freed at 1:55 p.m. and rushed to a local hospital. Her condition was not known.
