Cahill Named A's Opening Day Starter
OAKLAND (CBS/AP) - Trevor Cahill has been named opening day starter for the Oakland Athletics.
The A's made the announcement Thursday.
Cahill went 18-8 with a 2.97 ERA in 30 starts last season and was selected for his first All-Star team. He had 118 strikeouts and 63 walks in 196 2-3 innings.
Entering his third season in the majors, Cahill has a 5.29 ERA in five games this spring.
Oakland opens the season April 1 at home against Seattle.
