Brush fire between South Hayward, Union City temporarily stops BART service

A brush fire temporarily stopped BART service between Hayward and Union City on Monday, the transit agency said.

Just before 4 p.m., BART announced there was a fire between South Hayward and Union City. Aerial footage from the area shows the flames were near the tracks.

According to BART, Alameda County Transit was offering passengers bus service via bus route 9. 

As of 4:22 p.m., BART said the service along the Berryessa Line in the Berryessa, Richmond and Daly City directions had resumed and was experiencing delays of 20 minutes.

There was no immediate word on what started the fire along the trackway.
