Board Votes To Close Doctors Medical Center In San Pablo Next Month

SAN PABLO (KCBS)— Doctors Medical Center San Pablo is giving up the fight. The governing board for the chronically cash-strapped facility in San Pablo has voted to start closing down the facility on April 21st. The decision was made at Thursday night's West Contra Costa Healthcare District board meeting.

Doctors Medical Center, which has served the community for over 50 years, treats a large number of low-income patients who are covered by Medicare and Medi-Cal.

Less then 10 percent of the hospital's patients have private insurance.
