Located in the heart of the Mission District, Andalu is a tapas style restaurant with an international flavor. While small plates are meant to be shared, you will want to get a plate of the curly polenta fries just for yourself. Polenta is a dish made from boiled cornmeal, which is often served as porridge, but when it sets it can be made into the perfect fries. The result is a crunchy outside with a soft and slightly grainy consistency inside. Andalu complements its fries with spicy tomato vinaigrette. It is a fun twist on the typical fry.

The Pied Piper Bar & Grill at the Palace Hotel is an upscale location in the SOMA neighborhood with California fare. In keeping with its sophisticated vibe, the restaurant manages to class up this casual snack up by adding a very expensive ingredient – truffle. These golden potato fries are garnished with sea salt and then served with a truffle aioli. This pricey fungus lends the fries a deep, earthy and nutty flavor. These fries are something that are best served with one of the Pied Piper's classic cocktails.
