'All About That Bass' Book Of Mormon Parody Is Cringeworthy Awesomeness
(CBS SF) -- There's nothing better than someone that just goes all-in, working it with everything they've got, no matter how cringeworthy it is, and that is the sensation you have as you watch this "All About That Bass" Meghan Trainor parody called "All About That Book"... Book of Mormon" from LDS Sisters Annalese Lammi and Sister Nicole Guilott.
In truest parody fashion, it's hokey, cheesy, has forced rhymes, less-than-studio-quality vocals, and uncoordinated dance moves. In short, it's brilliant.
Before you blow up the comments defending it, get real. If the parody was great, perfect, flawless, no one would be writing about it or talking about it. It's a bit like a train wreck, it's awful to watch, but you just can't take your eyes from it. And that's what parodies are all about.
For this one, it has the added benefit for its creators of bringing attention to their cause for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints -- getting out free copies of the actual Book of Mormon, with a link right there on YouTube channel. After ripping the vocals, it feels only fair that we should share the link too: FREE BOOK OF MORMON -- CLICK HERE.
The "Book Of Mormon" parody joins others in the pantheon of "All About That Bass" parodies including:
All About That Baste (Nothing risque or "artificial inseminationy" here, get your minds out of the gutter. It's about Thanksgiving!!)
All About That Base (Star Wars Rebel Base, that is)
All About The Giants
And All About The Bay from our own 997Now sister station.
The sisters tell the LDS Smile blog, "The Book of Mormon really is the 'BOM!' It is another testament of Jesus Christ, and a record of Christ's teachings to the people in the ancient America's."
The video was published on October 12th but is still under 150,000 at the time of this post.
