5 Arrested In Attempted Armed Robbery In South San Francisco

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - South San Francisco police arrested three adults and two juveniles on suspicion of attempted robbery Wednesday night, police said.

The victim, a South San Francisco man, was walking in the 200 block of Alta Mesa Drive at around 9:50 p.m. when he was confronted by four suspects, one of whom was armed with a semi-automatic handgun, according to police.

The suspects demanded money from the victim. The victim refused, began to yell, and ran west on Alta Mesa Drive.

The suspects drove away in a red four-door sedan, but officers spotted the vehicle minutes later and stopped it.

Police said the victim identified the suspects and officers discovered a gun in the vehicle.

Three adults were arrested, including 21-year-old Jeffrey Liban of South San Francisco and Zane Reinfeld, 20, of Pacifica, police said. Two juveniles were also arrested.

The adults were booked at the San Mateo County Main Jail and the juveniles were booked at Hillcrest Juvenile Hall on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and using a firearm during a robbery.
