2 Hurt In Separate Richmond Shootings

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- Two people—including a male juvenile—were injured in two separate shootings in Richmond early Saturday morning, a police lieutenant said.

Shortly after midnight, officers responded to reports of shots heard in the 500 block of Third Street, where officers located a male juvenile who had been shot in his upper and lower torso, Lt. Lori Curran said.

The boy was transported to a hospital with injuries that police do not believe are life-threatening, she said.

About 1:30 a.m., officers were en route to the 1800 block of Gaynor Avenue in the city's Belding Woods neighborhood, where callers reported a large fight. Before the officers arrived, neighbors called police to report hearing gunfire in the area, Curran said.

At the scene, officers located a 24-year-old man who had been shot at least once in his upper torso, according to Curran. The victim was also transported to a hospital, is in stable condition and is expected to recover, she said.

No one was in custody in either shooting, both of which remained under investigation, Curran said.
