19-Year-Old Accused Of Murder In Concord Park

CONCORD (BCN) -- A man was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of killing a 31-year-old woman in Concord's Baldwin Park in July, a police captain said.

Tirrell Lavelle Dudley, 19, of Concord, was arrested in connection with the murder of Javaughna Lynch, who was found dead at about 6 a.m. on July 13 in the park located in the 2700 block of Parkside Circle, Concord police Capt. Brian Wiesendanger said.

Lynch, a Richmond resident who frequented Concord, died from a blunt force head injury, according to the Contra Costa County coroner's office.

Dudley was detained and questioned by police on the day Lynch was found dead, but he denied involvement in the murder and was released because "we didn't feel we had enough to file charges," Wiesendanger said.

However, DNA and other physical evidence recovered at the scene has since linked Dudley to the murder, Wiesendanger said. He declined to specify what evidence was found since the investigation is ongoing.

The case was presented to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office and a $1 million warrant was obtained for Dudley's arrest.

He was arrested without incident around 11:45 a.m. Friday when detectives saw him leaving his home in the area of Grant Street and Revere Drive, Wiesendanger said.

The case will be presented to the district attorney's office for formal charges early next week, he said.
