15-Year-Old Richmond Girl Dies In Accidental Shooting

RICHMOND (CBS / AP) -- Richmond police are investigating how a 15-year-old girl was fatally shot while she and her boyfriend were alone together with a gun.

Police Capt. Mark Gagan said investigators think Lakeya Wiley's death was accidental, but they took her 15-year-old boyfriend into custody after Thursday's night's shooting.

Authorities are trying to determine where the gun came from which one of the teens was holding the weapon when Lakeya, a freshman at Richmond High School, was struck in the abdomen.

Gagan said the girl was flown to a regional trauma center, but she died a few hours later.
