14-Year-Old Killed In Drive-By Shooting In Morgan Hill; 5 Arrests

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- A 14-year-old was killed in a drive-by shooting Friday in Morgan Hill, according to Morgan Hill police.

The shooting happened outside the Village Avante Apartments located at Cosmo and Del Monte Avenues.

A patrol officer was in the area and was able to locate the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. Police chased the suspects to an address on Barnell Avenue where they set up a perimeter with the assistance of Gilroy PD, California Highway Patrol and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department.

The Morgan Hill-Gilroy Regional SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team were able to call out 5 suspects who were all taken into custody without incident.

Esmeling Bahena and Ricardo Diaz of Morgan Hill, Fernando Mateo of Gilroy, Primitovo Hernandez of San Jose, and a 17 year old male from Morgan Hill were arrested for suspicion of homicide and attempted homicide.

Officers located a hand gun and an assault weapon.
