The 49ers and Chargers will meet this Saturday in a game that means a whole lot for San Diego, but very little for the 49ers. With the playoffs out of the picture and injuries up and down their roster it will be a mystery who will be on the field and how the team will play at this point in the season.
Few people thought the 49ers were going to go into Seattle and beat the Seahawks, but the 49ers gave the home team a scare. If not for injuries and a bad call, San Francisco might have been able to keep their postseason hopes alive.
Marshawn Lynch rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown, Russell Wilson threw a touchdown pass to rookie Paul Richardson, and the Seattle Seahawks knocked archrival San Francisco from playoff contention 17-7 Sunday.
San Francisco running back Frank Gore is out with a concussion after falling to the turf after throwing a block in the second quarter of Sunday's game against Seattle.
While NaVorro Bowman might not be playing, the rest for the 49ers has been good. Seattle is more or less healthy setting up an even rematch at least in terms of injuries.
Unexpectedly cheerful and far more chatty than the norm, Colin Kaepernick said he takes every part of his job seriously and is working at giving more thoughtful public responses.
The 49ers season is still not over. They can still make the playoffs, and even if unable to do that still need to show the rest of the NFC West where they stand. The team needs to forget about the past two weeks and focus on a strong finish as things could still fall their way before it's all said and done.
For the second time this season, the Seahawks and 49ers will meet. Both teams need a win for their playoff hopes, but it's the 49ers who are on the verge of being eliminated. San Francisco has not looked good the past two weeks and will need to quickly turn things around if they want to avoid their 3rd straight loss.
The 49ers have hit rock bottom. While they are still in the playoff hunt, they dealt themselves a crippling blow losing to the Oakland Raiders. The team lost this one as a unit with the offense, defense and special teams all failing to show up.
