Wrong-Way Driver Killed In Orange County Freeway Collision
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol says a speeding wrong-way motorist was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 in Orange County, while the other motorist and his passenger escaped with non-life threatening injuries.
City News Service reports the collision occurred early Sunday on the northbound I-5 in San Juan Capistrano, shortly after witnesses reported a white BMW traveling the wrong way on the northbound Interstate 405.
The CHP says the speeding BMW transitioned to the I-5 and struck a Toyota Camry head-on.
The driver of the BMW died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota and his passenger were hospitalized and expected to survive.
