Woman Beaten, Shot Inside Apartment

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- A woman was beaten, shot and killed inside her own apartment complex Saturday night, according to authorities.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said the victim, a woman in her 50s, was found dead by her son, who also lives inside the complex on Bluebird Way.

"My friend's screaming bloody murder, 'My mom's dead, my mom's dead, somebody killed her,'" said neighbor Stormy Avila.

The investigation into the death is still in its early stages, but authorities said there are signs of severe blunt force trauma.

Deputies have not released the names of any suspects, but friends said they believe an ex-boyfriend killed the woman. Authorities were called out to the victim's apartment at least six times in recent months.

"I heard that the manager pretty much banned him from coming over here because of domestic issues," said Danielle Buffington.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
