Woman's Throat Slashed In Violent Mugging
VACAVILLE (CBS13) – A woman was robbed and nearly killed during a violent assault in a quiet Brown's Valley neighborhood, authorities said.
Dolores Carroll was taking a walk at about 10:30 a.m. when two men approached her from behind and attacked her, according to the Vacaville Police Department.
Dolores' sister, Paula Surey, said one of the suspects grabbed her arms and restrained her while the other man put her in a choke hold. Even though Dolores never resisted, one of the robbers stabbed her in the neck, Paula said.
"They purposely cut her. She felt like they were going right for the main vein," Paula said.
After the suspects fled, Dolores was able to crawl to the home of neighbor Niem Huynh and ring the doorbell.
"She was yelling for help," said Huynh. "I saw her bleeding, it was scary."
The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she underwent surgery for her injuries. Dolores is expected to survive and should return home within a few days.
The two men jumped into a white car with a getaway driver and have not been located. Investigators have not identified any suspects in the case.
