Wheatland Mom Arrested For Trying To Deliver Drugs To Imprisoned Son

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (AP) -- The mother of an inmate has been accused of dropping off bags of methamphetamine and marijuana at a California minimum security prison.

The California Highway Patrol says 52-year-old Rhoda Lea Dydo Nunley of Wheatland was arrested at about 2:50 a.m. Wednesday after prison staff watched her drop off the drugs near the Ben Lomond Conservation Camp entrance. The state prison facility is in the Santa Cruz County mountains.

Guards saw inmates try to pick up the bags.

CHP Officer Sarah Jackson tells the Santa Cruz Sentinel that the drugs were destined for Nunley's son and another inmate to retrieve. There is no information on the woman's son.
