West Sacramento police investigate possible vehicle into river near Tower Bridge

Police believe a car was dumped into the Sacramento River near the Tower Bridge on Thursday morning.

West Sacramento police say they got a report of a vehicle possibly going into the river. Surveillance video reviewed by officers reportedly showed a vehicle driving up to the water's edge and stopping for around 15 seconds.

The vehicle then can be seen rolling into the water around 6:30 a.m., police say.

Officers say the area was too dark for the surveillance camera to see if anyone walked away from the vehicle before it went in the water, but police surmised that whoever drove it there had enough time to get out.

Search crews have been unable to find the vehicle at this time.

First responders ended their search a little later in the morning.
